Otago Accreditations

Since the September 2009 CRE training held in Tapanui, West Otago, 4 ladies who take classes at the Heriot School have been accreditted. The Rev. Anne Thornton (minister for Heriot Community Church which provides the lesson material) presented the Accreditation Certificates at a special service held on June 21.

Introducing Carolyn Sims - Trust Board member in Otago

Carolyn.TBpage.125x188The CEC National Trust Board has a new member from the Otago region, officially one of the two Presbyterian representatives, but of course will 'work' for us all.

Introducing Carolyn Sims. She lives in Dunedin with Andrew her husband and their with 3 teenage children. She enjoys movies, walking and the family dog. Carolyn is employed as the fulltime Community Worker for the Flagstaff Union Parish, working with a great group of volunteers which offer services to a local school, run holiday programmes etc. She is involved in CRE at a nearby school.

Introducing Jenny Begg-Gardyne - New Otago Chaplaincy Advisor

Good news!! It is a great joy to introduce Jenny Begg-Gardyne the new Chaplaincy Advisor for the Otago region

Jenny has been a primary and secondary teacher for many years and was also a Principal at one stage. After leaving fulltime teaching she worked for Scripture Union as National Co-ordinator of Children and Families as well as being the Regional worker for Otago and Southland. She then set up a Bible College at Elim church in Dunedin where she was the Principal for a couple of years. She also taught at BCNZ in Dunedin before it closed.
Since then she has been teaching piano and keyboard lessons at Silverstream Primary School in Mosgiel and last year took on a new role as Children's Support Teacher one day a week at the same school.
She is a trained counsellor and a registered teacher and also works one day a week counselling and supervising adults at the Turning Point Christian Counselling Centre at East Taieri Church.
She is married to Robin and lives on the Taieri. She has three stepchildren aged 16-25 and a little granddaughter.
Jenny has a passion to see young people reach their potential in Christ and has spent many years facilitating this in a number of roles.
