EBOP Good Samaritan Idea

EBOP.good.sam

At the end of Term 2 the CRE teachers at James Street School performed the "Good Samaritan" drama. A guest came on his motorbike as the good Samaritan and picked up the poor child who had been beaten up on her way to school (with balloons) and took her away on the back of his motorbike. The kids were thrilled - especially the child who got to ride on the bike.

Special Visit for CRE class - EBOP

The program "NZ Smashes Guinness World Records" on TV3 recently featured Reuben Simanu winning the Human Crucifix lift. A delighted Whakatane RE class welcomed him as he came to share the story of David and Goliath and spoke about his Christian faith. Reuben recited his favourite Bible verse and the children recited the memory verses they had learnt in their Life Choices lessons. Although Reuben holds the NZ Super heavy weight and overall bench press titles he warned the children not to start weight lifting too early!

A EBOP CRE teacher of Life Choices saysÂ….

Just thought I would let you know I had an encouraging experience in class today. I use Life Choices and sometimes ask if anyone would like to read the prayer at the end of our lesson. This is always very popular with lots of volunteers! Today I asked if 2 children would like to pray using their own words and a Christian boy came up to the front to pray. Then among the host of hands I chose a boy who at the beginning of the year told me firmly that he doesn't believe in God. Today he chose to come up the front and pray a very thoughtful prayer. I am so pleased and thank God for this.

Opotiki Thankyou lunch - EBOP

On Monday 24th August EBOP CEC Committee put on a thank you lunch for the Opotiki CRE teachers and Chaplains in appreciation for all they do in the schools of that area. Luke and Pam Eatwell and Margie Smith went from Whakatane representing the committee and there were 15 Opotiki people present. We had a lovely time of fellowship and of course plenty of yummy food.

We are also planning similar functions for Kawerau and Whakatane areas as well. Dates still to be finalised
