Greater Waikato Training Day February 2010

About 25 CRE Team Leaders gathered from Hamilton and the central Waikato near the end of February to a meeting organised by our Advisor Warren and others. We had the South Auckland Advisor, Dianne Scarrow give a keynote talk, illustrated by a power point presentation. Perhaps the most interesting part was her presentation on the four main types of leaders; playful, precise, powerful and peaceful. She made the point that if we harness the particular leadership style that fits each of us and delegate the leadership parts that we are weak in, then we will be the most effective Team Leaders we can be. Following her talk we divided into small groups according to our sub regions and prayed. At the end of the evening we had a tasty supper. Our far flung region has about 80 Team Leaders, some living more than three hours travel from Hamilton.

The Greater Waikato Boundaries

Ever wondered about the CEC District or region we belong to? The map on the left shows our boundaries, as far north as Te Kauwhata, south to Mary Ward and team at Taumaranui, west to Raglan and Kawhia, and north east the Coromandel peninsula with Mary Peterson and her team.

In this vast area are over 400 CRE teachers in over 100 Primary Schools, plus a good handful of Chaplains. These boundaries are approximate. Hamilton is the geographical centre and the logical place to hold our various regional events, though mini events are held somewhere in the Coromandel to reduce their teachers’ travel time. Some towns have no Bible in Schools. We will highlight them for prayer in our Prayer column. It will help you to realize the logistical challenges our Advisor Warren faces to meet Convenors and teachers from our widespread region. Future editions will feature different areas, schools and people in our region
