Light Party - Auckland

Don’t know what a light party is? Neither do the children at Jackie and Rush’s Otara schools so they have planned to run one on the 31st October. Why? Because a Light Party is an alternative to Halloween and helps to keep children o the streets and gives them a safe alternative to attend.
Some of the things we would like to do are
  • Bouncy castle
  • Face painters
  • Carnival games,
  • Jugglers, clowns, puppets
  • Games & races (especially fun outdoors)
  • Disco area
  • Stations with craft activities, activity sheets,
  • I’m thinking talent quest
  • Door prizes, lolly scrambles
  • Sausage sizzle
  • Ice creams
With all this going on we need anyonewho would like to help on the night. We arecommunicating with the Police Blue Lightorganisation in Otara and have a few schoolsand sta on board as well. We even have achurch that is prepared to run a service after theLight Party. If you think this is something youcould be involved in and maybe even have somespecial skills that t into our categories above then give Jackie a call Monday or Thursday at the CEC Auckland Office. Sounds interesting? What about your area? Check out www.lightparty.co.nz

Auckland "Big Day Out with CEC"

Big.Day.Out.Comp

Our Big Day Out on July 30th was a great success – in the feedback 97% said it was outstanding or very worthwhile! We had 110 people attending from as far away as Whaktane/Rotorua in the south and Mangawhai in the north. The highlights included an inspirational message from Pastor Clive Watson, a wide selection of workshops, a school principals' panel, a presentation in the evening from the CEO Paul Young, music from Jules Riding and of course, delicious food!
This is what people have said about it:
  • "The conference had a very positive atmosphere and everyone seemed to benefit both from fellowshipping and attending workshops."
  •  "Again, another well planned conference, with enthusiastic and inspiring speakers."
  •  "I heard that it was too expensive for some but when you see what you are getting for your money it is very worth it...money well spent."
  • "The standard of teaching was so high. I was inspired, encouraged and refreshed by the day."
  • "A great choice of workshops to meet individual needs."
Thank you to all those who came and helped make such a successful day.

God Is Honoured - Auckland

Humble, inspirational, gifted and a lady of great faith and love for God, these are a few ways to describe a wonderful lady, Doris Comrie. Doris retired from teaching CRE at the end of last year after 45 years of service. It all began back in 1965 when a school called her 'out of the blue' and asked her if she would teach 'Bible' to the primers. After several nights of working on one flash card ably assisted by her husband, Doris arrived nervously at the school. She was ushered to the hall where class upon class arrived to hear this lady with no training, no helper and no experience, teach. What she did have was one newly made flash card and a love for children!

CEC Auckland’s New Administrator

Auckland CEC is delighted to advise that their new Office Administrator – Samantha George - is fast coming to grips with her new position. She has been with them for two months now having replaced Maria Mulder who had been with them for four years.

Samantha was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. She is married to Wayne and they have a wonderful son, Liam. The family have been in New Zealand for 10 months and they live in Ellerslie. Wayne is currently a Family and Community Worker with Mountainside Lutheran Church. At the recent Auckland CARE course together they led a moving biblical reflections session on one of the mornings.

Samantha says she really enjoys New Zealand especially the beautiful landscapes, breathtaking scenery and as well as the general life-style. She sees her main aim in life to glorify God in everything she says, thinks and does.
