Neither do the children at Jackie and Rush’s Otara schools so they have planned to run one on the 31st October. Why? Because a Light Party is an alternative to Halloween and helps to keep children o the streets and gives them a safe alternative to attend.

Otago Term 3 Newsletter 2010Auckland "Big Day Out with CEC"
Our Big Day Out on July 30th was a great success – in the feedback 97% said it was outstanding or very worthwhile! We had 110 people attending from as far away as Whaktane/Rotorua in the south and Mangawhai in the north. The highlights included an inspirational message from Pastor Clive Watson, a wide selection of workshops, a school principals' panel, a presentation in the evening from the CEO Paul Young, music from Jules Riding and of course, delicious food!
This is what people have said about it:
The effect of CRE in Hawkes BayBelow are stories that Elaine shared with her church on the impact CRE has had on a couple of her students. Some years ago a 9yr old boy was in a Bible-in-school class of mine and I had been teaching on how there are 2 roads to life the broad one & the narrow one. He used to see me sometimes in the supermarket car park and would call out to me in a loud voice "Mrs Morrison, I'm still on the narrow road!" We recently farewelled from our church a very special young lady - Lisa Curran who is now working with Mission Aviation Fellowship in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory Australia. Lisa is a flying instructor and an occupational therapist who received Jesus into her life when she was 8yrs old in my Bible-in-school class . So what about you today - Jesus has said - I have given you an open door. Yes an open door into the heart of the community! There are many children waiting to learn of Jesus in our schools today and we need to ARISE and GO with the message of LIFE to these precious ones. We have 3 team leaders for C.R.E. (Christian Religious Education as it is now called ) in our church at this time - Julie Norris, Hastings, Robin Jones, Taradale and Elaine Morrison Havelock North. We would love to hear from you. There is training available & the material for teaching is provided all you need is a heart of love for Jesus & a willingness to go. There are opportunities to go in as a helper with more experienced teachers or as a reliever. Elaine Taranaki Term 3 NewsletterEBOP Good Samaritan Idea
At the end of Term 2 the CRE teachers at James Street School performed the "Good Samaritan" drama. A guest came on his motorbike as the good Samaritan and picked up the poor child who had been beaten up on her way to school (with balloons) and took her away on the back of his motorbike. The kids were thrilled - especially the child who got to ride on the bike. Auckland's Teachers Talk Term 2 2010 |
